Chuck Norris and Roland Harrah III in Braddock: Missing in Action III (1988)

Goofs

Braddock: Missing in Action III

Edit

Continuity

When Braddock takes off in the C-47 with the kids, the plane is shot at, and is leaking fuel. Braddock sees the oil pressure dropping, and one of the engines dies. When he crash lands the plane, both engines are clearly running.
In Missing in Action 2: The Beginning (1985), Col Braddock is depicted as an Air Cavalry helicopter pilot, wearing the distinctive Cavalry cowboy hat with crossed sabers. Here, his uniform depicts him as paratrooper, with the 101st Airborne Division patch, jump wings, and Airborne tab.
The helicopter chasing Braddock and his truck full of kids, fires 20+ rockets at them, despite the fact the chopper only has two rocket pods; each with a capacity of 6 rockets per pod (as can be seen in close up).
When Braddock escapes with the kids, the truck is a GMC CCKW. After they smash through the gate, the truck is an M35.
When Braddock gets to the airstrip where the c-47 is landing, he says that they are 80 kilometers from the border. (Approximately 50 miles) After he After he takes off with the children in the plane, he radios to the American Military Assistance Command, he says he is 80 miles from the border.

Factual errors

Lieutenant Colonel Braddock wears the insignia of the 101st Airborne Division. The opening scene of the film takes place during the fall of Saigon, which occurred in 1975. However, the 101st Airborne Division had left Vietnam entirely by 1972.
The Bangkok Metropolitan Police vehicles seen in the film (using a Mitsubishi Lancer sedan) are painted in a blue and white livery - the real-life Bangkok Metropolitan Police vehicles are painted black and white.
All of the cars in Bangkok are depicted as left hand drive. Cars in Bangkok are actually right hand drive.
In the scene at the embassy gate during the beginning of the movie, the Marine Corps Captain can be seen wearing subdued metal infantry branch insignia on his left collar (as he is wearing it). However, this branch insignia is used only by Army officers - not Marine Corps officers. A Marine Corps officer, if wearing rank insignia, would wear full color metallic metal insignia on either collar point, as the subdued blackened rank insignia was not introduced to the Marine Corps until the Marine Corps Combat Utility Uniform, in distinctive MARPAT pattern, was introduced in 2002.
The Huey that airlifted Braddock after he was shot had two mounted M-60 machine guns. Medevac aircraft cannot carry crew served weapons.

Revealing mistakes

The signage seen in the Bangkok, Thailand scenes are written in Chinese characters. Also, the motor vehicles seen in the film are left-hand drive; vehicles sold in Thailand are right-hand drive.
When The U.S. Military Arrive At The Thai-Vietnam Border, One Of The Lieutenants Was Wearing A Gold Lieutenant Bar And Gold Crossed Sabers On His Camouflage Uniform. This Would Not Be Allowed Because The Colors Could Reveal Your Location. The Lieutenant Bar And Crossed Sabers Should Be A Dark Subdued Color.
During the battle at the border, the first time when Braddock jumps through a window while shooting, Chuck Norris is replaced by a stunt-double with a slightly different hairstyle. This is even more obvious in a later shot of Braddock being blown away by an exploding grenade, when Chuck Norris is obviously replaced by a stunt-double.
When Braddock Jumps Through One Window Of The Border Hut He Shoots All Those In The Building, After Shooting Them He Continues Through The Building And Out Another Window. The Next Scene He Is Seen From The Outside Jumping Out Of The Building Through Another Window. As The Glass Shattered It Can Clearly be Seen That It Is Candy Glass.

Crew or equipment visible

During the last fight at the border, when the grenade explodes near Braddock he is thrown in the air. In next shot while he is mid air a platform used to shot him in the air is clearly visible sticking out of the ground.

Errors in geography

Vietnam does not share a boundary with Thailand; Thailand's eastern boundary includes Laos and Cambodia.

Plot holes

The plot contradicts that of Missing in Action 2: The Beginning (1985), where Braddock is captured in 1972. Here it's near the fall of Saigon in 1975, and he's about to leave town.

Character error

In the previous two films, which put Braddock's capture in 1972, Braddock (Chuck Norris) is shown wearing full bird Colonel's insignia and Special Forces badges. In this film, set in 1975, he is wearing Lt. Colonel's rank badges and is assigned to the 101st Airmobile.

Apart from the name of Colonel Braddock and the overarching theme of his imprisonment in Vietnam, this story barely connects with the two previous films in the same series.
During the final battle, when Braddock's son Van runs to his father's aid as he is wounded by a grenade, Van's voice suddenly changes to that of a teenager when shouting, "DADDY!"
