Robber's Plans Come Crashing Down... It was Christmas come early for the man who burst into a video game store in Houston and proceeded to empty entire shelves of games and game units into a sack. But when he botched the robbery and had to flee, his plans for a hiding spot fell through -- literally.

John Warren Parsons, 35, robbed a gas station and stole a car in Chillicothe, Ohio, on 21 April 2005. An off-duty cop, Larry Cox, leaving the home of his parents after dinner, saw Parsons running away and chased him. Parsons shot him in the neck and Cox died. Parsons was caught on 1 May 2005 and put in jail, facing capital charges, but his trial was delayed and he made an ingenious escape on 29 July 2006.
