Hear it for the traffic cops

Warning: Spoilers
An engaging little story and a labour of love from writer/director and star Danny Lee. Lee was well known for his cop roles throughout the 1980s and 1990s, but here the sole focus is on traffic police, a sub force somewhat under represented in cinema. ROAD WARRIORS goes some way in changing that status. It's a serious drama with well-drawn characters and a decent cast that includes good roles for Jamie Luk and Ken Lo as the cops and some familiar faces as the bad guys. There's plenty of melodrama (always a favourite of mine in Hong Kong cinema) alongside some good (and expected) vehicular chases, including one outstanding school bus crash that I've never seen the likes of before.
