Bette Midler and Shelley Long in Outrageous Fortune (1987)

Goofs

Outrageous Fortune

Edit

Continuity

In the scene where Lauren and Sandy are on the conveyor belt in the bowels of the Albuquerque airport, Lauren throws a suitcase at the CIA agent right before he hits his head on the light fixture. As she picks up the bag, it's a duffel bag. Quickly it changes to a suitcase. By the time it hits his head, it's morphed into yet a third piece of luggage.
When Michael is chasing Lauren on the butte, Sandy throws her earring and hits him and he grabs the left side of his head. When he's shown again, he has a cut in the middle of his forehead.
Near the end, a handful of money is thrown from a cliff to be gathered by the Indians below, but some of the tribesmen already had wads of cash sticking out of their pockets.

Factual errors

When they are at the airport in NYC and the ticket agent pulls up potential flights for the two ladies to take, she reads Flight 225 going through Kansas City, but the computer screen reads Eastern Airlines Flight 225 going through Atlanta, not Kansas City.
Lauren and Sandy report Michael is alive to a police officer who is wearing a Lieutenant's bar on each collar, but a New York City Police Captain's badge, which has three points on the top edge. A Lieutenant's badge is a round sunburst.
The sign at the border of Tres Cruces is misspelled as Tres Crucas.
When Lauren and Sandy are being chased by the CIA while attempting to get on the plane in New York, Sandy throws money "thwarting" the CIA agents. If the CIA agents wanted to actually capture them, they could have easily had the plane held at the gate where they could have boarded the plane and taken them into custody.

Revealing mistakes

At one point, both Lauren and Sandy hide in automatic dryers that are turned on. First, most automatic dryers wouldn't function with the weight of a human in it. Second, if both of them are in dryers at the same time, who turned them on?
At the beginning of the film, when Lauren is leaving her acting class, she stops at a Coke machine. Though she clearly presses the space above the button with the side of her hand to select a beverage, she then leans down and retrieves a Coke.

Miscellaneous

At the first acting lesson, the Russian transcription of Stanislav Korzenowski's last name is seen on a blackboard, but it's spelled "KorzAnowski". So, the "a" should be pronounced like the "a" in the name "Zack".

Crew or equipment visible

In the helicopter chase on the beach at night, the women hide in a shore side shower. In two shots, as they leave it and are chasing the light, a man is clearly visible in the shower, holding it up.

Plot holes

When Lauren reads the advertisement for Korzanowski's Spring session, the audition timings are in the afternoon. But when Sandy (Bette MIdler) is on the phone with the phone company in the Korzanowski studio during the auditions, she asks the phone guy if she has "only until noon today" to pay her bill, saying, "So, I only have 3, no make it 2, minutes to pay my bill?"
When Michael is about to shoot Lauren with his rifle, he is shot in the arm by one of Frank's friends, giving Lauren a chance to run away. However, when Michael is pursuing Lauren again a moment later, he illogically has not brought his rifle with him.
In the daytime, Sandy and Lauren discover Michael's hideout and go in to see him. CIA Agent Atkins and his sidekick come in after them and shoot Michael. Sandy and Lauren hit them with paddles and knock them out. In the next scene, it is nighttime and Lauren and Sandy are with Michael on the beach, by the the boathouse where the CIA agents were knocked out. Magically, they are no longer there. They (or at least Mr. Atkins) are in the helicopter that is hunting for Michael and the girls.
