- The 1989 UK video version (released as "Off Balance") was cut by 18 secs by the BBFC to edit gore from the train station murder and the stabbing of a woman with a table lamp. The 2007 Shameless DVD is uncut.
- Although the American Vidmark VHS is advertised on its cover as the "Original Uncut Version" it is actually missing portions of the Venetian carnival part of the film including various cutaways to costumed revelers and Robert (Michael York) seeking counsel with a priest friend (Giovanni Lombardi Radice) while retaining the murder of the prostitute. The action under the opening credits is present but most of the credits have been moved to the end of the film, replacing the original end credits with video generated ones for the main cast and principal technical crew.
