Eddie Murphy in The Golden Child (1986)

Goofs

The Golden Child

Edit

Continuity

(at around 1h 27 mins) When Chandler stabs the demon creature with the dagger he is standing right in front of the demon, yet when the demon explodes immediately afterwards, Chandler is not there.
(at around 51 mins) When Chandler is following the bird through the streets of Katmandu, we see a shot of the bird alighted on a sign with some English writing on it. The bird then flies down an alleyway into a small courtyard with some shops. When Chandler follows the bird into the courtyard, we can see the same sign that the bird was supposedly sitting on before it flew down the alley.
(at around 35 mins) When Jarrell is fighting Tommy Tong in the restaurant, Tong uses his weapon to chop the top portion of Jarrell's fighting stick. The end is then clearly frayed, yet a second later in the next shot, the end appears as if it has been cleanly and evenly cut off.
(at around 58 mins) The level of the water in the glass during the quest changes between shots.
(at around 1h 4 mins) When Chandler is talking to The Old Man after obtaining the dagger, The Old Man begins picking his nose with his pinkie. When the shot switches to another camera angle, he's using his index finger.

Factual errors

(at around 1h 8 mins) Leaving Tibet, most of the security guards are wearing Australian Army 'Rising Sun' collar badges on their berets.
When Chandler is asking for the Ajunti Dagger, he spins the prayer wheel counterclockwise. Prayer wheels are spun clockwise.

Incorrectly regarded as goofs

(at around 1h 19 mins) Chandler and the Golden Child show up to the house at the end in a green car yet leaves in a brown car. Chandler sees the brown car before he goes into the house. When he leaves, he sees that the brown car is closer and he decides to use that one instead, that's why he says "there's no keys in the car, there's no keys in the car". This is because this is not his car and he is trying to steal it.
(at around 40 mins) During the "dream" sequence, when Fu steps behind Chandler he is wearing a red and blue visor. As he steps away he is wearing a yellow visor. The visor changes once more to red/blue and then finally to black and white as he leaves the room. The error in continuity may very well be intentional due to the fact that it is a dream sequence and the constantly changing visor adds to the surreality of the dream as do the horse walking by and the mirror with no reflection.

Revealing mistakes

(at around 30 mins) When Kee Nang is inside the biker house, she jumps up and grabs onto some pipes. The arms grabbing the pipes are much more muscular than hers.
(at around 29 mins) The verses of the song "Body Talk" are heard out of order when the video is played at the Yellow Dragons' club house.
The chain that the Golden Child "stretches" for Chandler changes styles between shots.

Miscellaneous

Before Chandler's attempt to retrieve the dagger, the Old Man tells him that, in order to be successful, he must carry a glass of water without spilling a drop. When Chandler trips on the bridge, you can clearly see some water spilling from the glass. This is never addressed, and Chandler is successful in his attempt despite breaking this rule.

Crew or equipment visible

(at around 1h 2 mins) When Chandler is about to take the dagger you can clearly see a wire holding it in place.
A microphone is visible under Kee Nang's car window, while she is spying on Chandler walking into a tattoo parlor.
