Larry Hagman, Dale Midkiff, David Marshall Grant, and Molly Hagan in Dallas: The Early Years (1986)

Goofs

Dallas: The Early Years

Edit

Continuity

In the last scene, young Cliff pulls his sister Pam away from a swing being pushed by little Bobby. In the next shot, as the camera pulls back from him, Bobby is no longer standing behind the swing but clear to the side of it.

Anachronisms

One of the musicians playing at the 1951 Armistice Day party is playing an electric bass guitar. In 1951, electric basses were in their infancy and were not yet available to the public in quantity.

Plot holes

Pam is depicted as a little girl on November 11, 1951. However, it was revealed in Jock's Trial: Part 2 (1980) that her mother Rebecca was pregnant with her in November 1952.
In 1951, it is mentioned that Garrison is not at Southfork as he enlisted to fight in the Korean War. However, Home Again (1979) revealed that he faked his death in 1939 as he disapproved of Miss Ellie's marriage to Jock and that his family were unaware that he was still alive until he returned to Southfork in 1979.
The film depicts Digger meeting Jock and Jason for the first time in 1933. However, it was revealed in Winds of War (1985) that the three men struck oil in Nacogdoches County on August 10, 1930 and that Sam Culver drew up an agreement giving each of them one third ownership of Ewing Oil one week later.
