EastEnders (1985)

Goofs

EastEnders

Edit

Continuity

The birth dates and death dates of events often vary from the date of their broadcast. This is due to the episodes being set on different days.
Due to being a long running soap opera characters history's and backstories are retconned and certain plot points are forgotten i.e. characters celebrating their birthdays on the wrong days or forgetting about key details in their lives.

Plot holes

When Kathy Beale was revealed to have faked her own death in 2015, her ex-husband, Phil Mitchell, responded to her request to return home with "No - Mum and Billy are right; it's too risky". When Kathy did eventually return to Albert Square some months later, no mention was made of Peggy or Billy Mitchell having been involved in Kathy's faked death or return.
In 2017, Denise Fox's mother Emerald tells her that she is not her real daughter and that Denise was "brought home as a baby" by her father, implying she is the product of his affair. However, this contradicts an earlier storyline where both Denise and Emerald are unaware of who her father is - only that he is a member of a band called The Five Hectors. Denise later identifies her father via a DNA test.

Later in 2017, Denise and her sister Kim take DNA tests and discover they are full siblings, proving Emerald was lying. However, this does not explain why Denise initially believed the story could be true.
