Great Satire on Judicial System
silvan-desouza24 August 2014
Warning: Spoilers
There are some films which have not to be missed, When bBllywood was busy doing song and dance, with big stars.etc some filmmakers dared to go beyond stereotype. Naseeruddin Shah started his career with such films The film tells a story of troubled residents of a chawl, namely Mohan Joshi and his wife who complain against their builder for not repairing their building, their lawyers(played by Naseer and Satish Shah) both are cunning lawyers. The film is a good satire on judicial system and works well, it shows us how the games are played and how cases are delayed for years. All done in tongue and cheek format. The film ends too in a different manner then expected.

Direction is superb There are no songs in the film and it helps

Naseeruddin Shah plays the wig wearing cunning lawyer brilliantly with a superb comic timing, Satish Shah supports him ably Bhishma Sahni is superb, Dina Pathak is fab, Deepti Naval is awesome Amjad Khan is awesome, Pankaj Kapur is superb as the Promoter, his partner supports him well, rest are all good We have Avtar Gill and many more doing good cameos.

An absolute classic. Must watch by all Indian filmmaking students.

Just wanted to share my excitement with you all.

Excitement of having watched a super-lovely for the first time last night.

'MOHAN JOSHI HAZIR HO!' (1984) Although it was a terrible print on YouTube; once I started the lovely film directed by Saeed Akhtar Mirza, I couldn't stop it.

It is written in such an awesome manner by the likes of Sudhir Mishra sir, Yusuf Mehta and Saeed sir himself; all the characters are so relate-able and realistic.

And of course what a wonderful cast it had. And it is edited in such a crisp manner. I loved it! I learned from it!

I think all us 'wannabee' filmmakers must start our learning with watching all these Indian 'parallel' classics.

My rating: 9/10 ********* M U S T . W A T C H . F I L M.
