The Star Chamber (1983)

Goofs

The Star Chamber

Edit

Continuity

After deciding to correct the mistake the Star Chamber has made, Judge Hardin is seen in his dark office. The lights are off except for the desk lamp he is using. The office door is open showing the adjacent courtroom where Judge Caulfield appears, calling Hardin. When Hardin exits his office, entering the courtroom, his office is brightly lit.
During the chase scene between the Pontiac Firebird and the cops in the parking garage, several times skid marks can be seen along the path the cars follow. These marks follow through very narrow gaps between parked cars and concrete posts, areas in which cars would not normally travel.

Factual errors

Due to the gear changing, and sound of the engines during the chase in the parking garage, the cars would have be going 50-60 mph which would not have been possible in that small parking garage.
Law enforcement does NOT need a warrant to search a person discarded garbage. When it is at the curb it is searchable without a warrant.

Incorrectly regarded as goofs

At the Atlanta Braves game Michael Douglas is sitting next to Hal Holbrook to Holbrook's left. In two wide angle shots of the seats Michael Douglas does not appear. Just Holbrook's wife and Douglas' wife.

In the wide angle shots, Michael Douglas is seated 3 seats to Hal Holbrook's left. He can't be seen because everyone except Douglas stood up to cheer. Douglas presumably stayed seated because he's consumed by what happened in court an isn't into the game. When they sit down, Douglas can be seen seated, brooding.

Revealing mistakes

Obvious stunt double when Judge Hardin is tumbling down the chute in Monk & Coombs' warehouse.

Plot holes

The ending scene is somewhat implausible. As Hardin is fleeing from Coombs and Monk in the abandoned warehouse, the assassin in a police officer's uniform arrives on the scene and guns down Coombs and Monk. As he is about to kill Hardin, Detective Lowes arrives and kills the faux officer. But how did he determine officer was a fake, and since he could not see Hardin, Lowes could not have known the assassin was targeting Hardin.
