Cher, Kurt Russell, and Meryl Streep in Silkwood (1983)

Goofs

Silkwood

Edit

Continuity

When men looking for radiation search the house, Karen and Dolly are questioned and Dolly is taken away. Soon afterward, in a close shot of Karen, Dolly is in the background.

Incorrectly regarded as goofs

After Karen's first contamination, she and Drew are at home, and Drew is laid out on the bed playing his banjo, and black (X) marks can be seen on the quilt.

These are not actor position marks, but (repeating) parts of the quilt pattern. Drew's body lining up on the marks is just chance.
When Drew (Kurt Russell) pours the contents of a can of beer over his head before leaving the house, he then walks out of the house and onto the porch. He can be seen striking his head with considerable force on the porch, hard enough to produce an audible noise that surely would have caused a considerable amount of pain. In the next immediate scene and thereafter, no physical sign of injury can been seen.

An individual's pain threshold cannot be determined by observation, and most people will know how hard they can hurt themselves without leaving bruises. Additionally, this item is contrary to IMDb Guidelines for "Unacceptable Goofs" for Artistic License, Personal Opinion, and Nitpicking.

Anachronisms

In Washington, D.C. in 1974, a marching band can be heard in the background performing Kool & The Gang's "Celebration". The song was released in 1980.
During the taxi ride after their arrival in 1974 Washington D.C., an early 1980s Ford Thunderbird is driving behind and then passing the taxi in which the group from Oklahoma is riding.

Errors in geography

Kerr McGee's Cimmeron plant is on the east side of Hwy 74, between Crescent to the north and Oklahoma City to the south. Opening scenes show a mileage sign for Crescent, which is really the opposite direction. This also causes incorrect footage for placement and direction of travel in later scenes (e.g., placement of car in accident, tow truck pulling wrecked car past Crescent Cafe)
