Jackie Gleason, Richard Pryor, and Scott Schwartz in The Toy (1982)

Goofs

The Toy

Edit

Continuity

When Eric and Jack are driving the red car down the staircase, there is no food cart in front of the stairs at the bottom. In the next shot, a food cart is present (which they smash into).
Jack is shown wearing slippers as Barkley delivers his breakfast. After Eric pulls Jack's breakfast off the cart and Jack begins to give Eric a spanking, he is no longer wearing slippers.
The first time Jack knocks down the dominoes, the dominoes fall up the platform twice.
When Jack crashes the Wonder Wheel, he's standing at an angle past the original start position in front of the end cap of dolls. However in the next shot, he's standing upright back at the original starting position. It's unlikely for Jack to have enough pinpoint accuracy to roll the Wonder Wheel back to its starting position before the Wonder Wheel starts to deflate.

Revealing mistakes

When Jack Brown is on the phone in Master Bates's room, you can see that the phone has no cord going into the phone jack.
Articles in the newspaper "The Toy" do not correspond to the pictures. Specifically, the paragraph that begins "The man in the middle is chief counsel for the committee." repeats many times.
In the final scene, when Eugene shoots Jack with the dart gun, Jack's eyes are crossed and looking up before the dart hits his forehead.

Audio/visual unsynchronised

Several video game noises heard do not match the video game being shown or played.
During the party destruction sequence, audio dialog does not match the actors in several shots, mostly with Jack and Eric.

Crew or equipment visible

When Jack is rolling in the inflatable wheel, during a closeup a crew member's hand appears from the right side of the screen to help balance the wheel.
While standing at Richard Pryor's screen door trying to get him to come back to work, Ned Beatty has a napkin (used to keep wardrobe clean during make up) is still stuck in the collar of his shirt.
When Jack and Eric drive down the main staircase in the car, you can see kneepads under Jack's pants.
There is a string attached which is somewhat visible after Jack is shot in the forehead with the sticky dart.

Character error

As US is telling Fancy about Jack, she unstraps herself from the exercise machine, she only removes 2 of the 3 straps (the strap on her legs is never removed).
The boxing robot does not hit Jack in the groin. It actually hits Jack on the outside of his left hip.
