The Junkman (1982)

Goofs

The Junkman

Edit

Continuity

During the Corvette chase, a patrol car smashes into a wagon on the back of a car transporter, pushing a Citroen in front of it off the top. The truck driver looks out of his window and rolls his eyes, but in the next shot, the window is closed.
Order of patrol cars following the Corvette along railroad tracks.
Damage to Pig Man's Mercedes as it crashes through car doors and into truck.
The same shot of the police roadblock is used twice, with the same actors speaking the same dialogue in the background both times.
When the semi is trying to avoid hitting the camper and boat trailer, its wheels are locked-up and smoking. Upon impact, the wheels are rolling normally.

Factual errors

At the "Gone in 60 Seconds" premiere, two different movie posters of the film can be seen decorating the front of the Cinerama Dome. One is a British quad poster, that was only used in the UK when the film was released there in 1976 and was never and would never be available or used to advertise a film in the US.
Both Harlan and his pursuers jump the stage at the James Dean festival without a ramp or any other launching device being present. They simply would have crashed into the front of the stage and driven straight through it, rather than leaping over it, as all they do is head towards it at speed, which would not "launch" the cars over the top without hitting it first.

Revealing mistakes

Cable holding Mexican's car in place visible while it is standing in the air.
When Harlan and his pursuers smash through the stage at the James Dean festival, people scramble off it just in time, but many are smiling and laughing, despite the approaching cars.
The cars Harlan drives across in the parking lot in the Corvette are obviously purposely set-up for the stunt. They are parked side-by-side without any space between them.
At the end of the first chase sequence, when the Bricklin jumps over the police cars, the end of the ramp it takes off from is visible.
A ramp is visible when the patrol car smashes into the camper and drives up onto the sides of stopped vehicles.

Audio/visual unsynchronised

Susan explains to Harlan that they found his photo in the wreckage of one of the planes sent to kill him, but as the shot switches her mouth is closed.
A punch sound effect can be heard when Michael runs past Harlan after being exposed, but he's visibly pushing Harlan out of the way.

Crew or equipment visible

Camera and cameraman visible in rear-view mirror of patrol car as it cuts in front of the sedan that smashes into the back of the Mini during the Corvette chase.
Shadow of camera truck on the road in front of Pig Man's Mercedes before he crashes.
Chain attached to the Paso Cable van visible as it goes off the embankment.

Plot holes

Harlan and Susan realize that his attempted killer must be someone he works with because the assassin's photograph is a new publicity shot which even Harlan hasn't seen yet. Yet during the Nevada news bulletin on his "death", the same publicity shot of him is shown, which they would never have been able to get.
