Evilspeak (1981)

Goofs

Evilspeak

Edit

Continuity

When professor says "Word to the wise", a shot from farther away is shown and Coopersmith can be seen writing in the notebook, but there was no notebook in front of him in the shot before and in the following shot the notebook is also absent.
When Coopersmith starts translating Latin on PC, the Estaban's book is not in front of him, but when he translates the first part, it is.
When Coopersmith puts his dog in his new "home" he makes for him out of planks, close-up shot of the dog is shown in bright light, but in his "home" light doesn't shine on him, which is obvious in the following shot.
When Coopersmith continues translating Latin, the guy in white t-shirt is still behind him (he was present the first time he is translating), indicating translating scenes were all done at once.
A guy throws one beer to a girl in the cellar, but she is seen catching what appears to be a pack of beers.

Factual errors

Religious orders would not use a rosary for a cincture or belt. The chain which is used to make them is far too fragile and would break easily which is why leather belts or rope is mainly used. Rosaries are usually hung from cinctures as with Dominicans and some Franciscan Orders.

Revealing mistakes

In the first shower sequence one of the actors can be seen wearing a jockstrap.
Miss Friedlander is obviously wearing a visible crotch cover when she gets up after undressing.
Obvious dummies in a number of gore scenes, the dummies' bodies and body parts are often different colors and sizes than the actors' real bodies. Most obvious is the dummy used in the opening decapitation scene. The actress's breasts change size and her nipple and skin color changes before she is beheaded.
In the dungeon scene with the preserved fetus rising up in its jar, you can obviously see the lines attached to the fetus' hands and head.
When Jo Jo Anderson is being attacked by a boar through a door, before the shot cuts away, you can see the edge of the boars head, revealing it to be a special effect prop.

Miscellaneous

Coopersmith swears a Satanic pledge "by the four beasts before the throne". This presumably refers to the four beasts before God's throne who appear throughout Revelation, praising Him day and night: these have conventionally been thought to represent the evangelists and (unlike, say, the beasts of Revelation 11, 13 and 17) there is nothing Satanic about them at all.
At the end of the movie, Bubba smashes a window with his hand, but his hand is not seen bleeding after that. In reality, glass would cut his hand really bad if he did that.

Crew or equipment visible

Plot holes

No Catholic Church would ever be named or would honor a priest who is a known founder of a satanic cult regardless if he founded the church or not.

Character error

In the soccer game Coach tells Stanley he must play him 2 out of the 3 quarters of the game. Soccer games don't have quarters and if they did there would be 4.
