When Curtis runs out of bullets of his gun, he reloads in the kitchen and Joyce and Timmy run upstairs. When he starts shooting at them through the walls upstairs, we hear at least 13 shots in quick succession, even though the gun can not hold that many bullets.
Every time Debbie's scrapbook is shown, there are actual newspaper clippings in it. With the exception of the time she invites Timmy up into her tree-house: that time, the article about the Sheriff dying in a freak accident is actually a photocopy of the article, despite the original being shown in its place before and after that scene.
When the boys are trying to run Joyce down with the car, they exit the car and send it after her, driverless. But in the very next shot, one of them is still seen driving.
When Sheriff Brody turns on his security, the light turns green. In the very next shot it's off again.
When Curtis kills Miss Davis by shooting her, she falls to the floor and leaves no bloodstains on the kitchen cupboards that she 'slid' down. In the next wide shot of her body on the floor, there is now a large bloody stain on the cupboards.
There was no solar eclipse in June 1970.
When Beverley is looking through the book of newspaper clippings she found in Debbie's room, the text in the clippings is not relevant to the actual headlines, and is exactly the same text, repeated in each clipping.
Victim at the start of the movie is choked to death in seconds. It takes longer to choke somebody.
Obvious stills are used to show the eclipse taking place.
When the cops put the two boys in the back seat of the car to presumably take them to a psychiatric institution. As the shot draws closer in on the boy in the back seat it's clear the windows of the car are down. Not a good idea when transporting prisoners.
When Curtis shoots his teacher Miss Davis,it's unbelievable that nobody from the school heard the shot.
Early in the movie, Debbie is charging the two boys to watch her sister Beverly undress through a hole in the wall. Later this hole is pointed out to Beverly, who does nothing about it. Even later in the film, Debbie kills Beverly by shooting her through the eye with an arrow fired through the same hole SHE KNEW about and did nothing.
A home "security system" of this era wouldn't just be able to lock all of the doors in the house, especially in a modest home such as Debbie's family home. Curtis wouldn't be able to bridge a few wires with clips and lock Joyce and Timmy inside Debbie's house.
When Steven beats to death the Sheriff Brody,it's daylight and it's unbelievable that nobody from the neighborhood see him doing that murder.
