Seems Like Old Times (1980)

Goofs

Seems Like Old Times

Edit

Continuity

When Ira hands Glenda the printed photo of Nick from the bank camera, it is rumpled and has fold marks from being folded twice. In the very next scene, she's holding the same photo, but it's an unfolded, completely smooth copy.
In the scene when Nick hides under the bed while Ira and Glenda discuss making the room over the garage into a campaign office, Ira stands on Nick's little finger of his right hand. When Nick extricates the finger and is assessing the damage under the bed, he is looking at the little finger of his left hand.
When Nick is crawling on his hands and knees around the limo, the driver dumps out a cup of hot coffee out the window. Nick screams as though he were burnt. He then reaches the trellis to climb up and his jacket is totally clean.
Nick tells the gas station attendant he does not want any candy with peanut butter but yet he takes a zagnut candy bar which contains peanut butter.
During the party, Glenda takes the left-over chicken from the 'fridge, intending it for Nick. Aurora complains that she was going to take that home for her dinner. The police, mistaking it to be for them, take it from her in the garden. After the party, Nick is in the kitchen eating the left-over chicken.

Factual errors

Although Los Angeles County District Attorney Ira Parks was charged with prosecuting Nicholas Gardenia for the crime of bank robbery, the heist occurred in Carmel, California, which is in Monterey County, far out of D.A. Parks' jurisdiction. The trial before Judge Channing for the crime (also being in L.A. County) should not have occurred there for the same reason.
The calendar at the bank behind the robbers says "Friday April 16". The closest year to 1980 that April 16 fell on a Friday was 1976.

Revealing mistakes

During the dinner party with the governor, the dogs race out of the bedroom, and the St. Bernard comes out from behind the camera, knocking into it causing the picture to shake.
When Nick and Glenda are talking in the kitchen at 2 AM, Nick pulls out his gun as Glenda leaves to go wake up Ira. After he says "I'll have to get some bullets first, but then I can't promise anything," and Glenda turns to leave again, Nick lowers his gun twice.
When Nick is sitting in the backseat of the station wagon waiting for Glenda to bring him food, the light inside the car is on and the car doors are closed. When the young couple come into the garage Nick opens the car door and exits, leaving the door open . The couple get into the car and close both doors and the light goes off. Since the light was on with both doors closed, closing the doors should not have turned off the light.
There are visible injuries to both Ira and Nick in the courtroom scene. Since these injuries occurred during the evening when the Parks' were hosting the Governor, said injuries would be long healed by the time a court date was scheduled. Even a high profile case directly involving the LA County District Attorney would not be scheduled so soon, but more likely many months out.
In the final scene when Ira is driving in the rain, he swerves to avoid a cow in the road. The cow is clearly fake. In the next shot a real cow walks by.

Miscellaneous

When Nick is pushed into the bank by the robber/kidnappers the inside of the door is clearly labeled "PUSH", when he was pushed against it from the outside he should have slammed into an immovable door. Fire regulations require that all exit doors in public businesses push out.

Crew or equipment visible

Large movie light reflected in rear-seat car window, when Chester pulls the station wagon out of the garage.

Boom mic visible

When Aurora brings the dogs into the final courtroom scene.

Character error

Although he begins to serve her, Nicholas fails to serve chicken to Glenda during the dinner party with the Governor. As Nicholas leaves the room, all guests have chicken on their plate sans Glenda, yet everyone goes about eating as normal. (Ironically, at approx 1 hr 12 min, Glenda had just said "You think I'm going to eat that stuff??")
