The Long Good Friday (1980)

Goofs

The Long Good Friday

Edit

Continuity

Blood on Harold's shirt after his final "altercation" with Jeff. In the cabin the blood only comes to 2 or 3 buttons down from the top, when he leaves the boat it's up to his top button.
When Charlie and Victoria stand up to leave the boat, Charlie's arm is bent as Victoria places her hand on his back. Next shot from behind, Charlie's arm is straight.

Revealing mistakes

The last shot of the swimming pool being drained is actually water coming in, but shown in reverse.
In the scenes supposedly set in Northern Ireland the cars have the wrong type of registration plates which are different from the rest of the UK.

Anachronisms

The priest performs the Eucharistic Rite during mass; the Eucharistic Rite is not performed on Good Friday.

Errors in geography

Savoy Court is the only street in the UK where vehicles must drive on the right. However, towards the end of the film, we see they are driving on the left.

Character error

In the last scene of the movie, Bob Hoskins gets into the left rear passenger seat of the car. When Pierce Brosnan pops up from the front passenger seat, he looks toward the vacant right rear passenger seat pointing his gun in that direction rather than at Hoskins. He continues looking in the wrong direction for the entire scene.
