Goofs

(at 9:20) The opening title card reads "The Return Of The King". Below it, the copyright line reads "RANKIN/BASS PRODCTIONS, INC. MCMLXXIX". The word "productions" is misspelled.

In this animated film, the Nazgul (ringwraiths) ride winged horses, much like Pegasus of Greek myth, rather than, as in the book, Pterodactyl like creatures. (See: The Return of the King, the Battle of the Pelennor Fields).

Many names of locations and characters are mispronounced: Gorgoroth as Gorogoroth, Minas Tirith as Mine-as Tirith (instead of Me-nas), Cirith Ungol as Sirith Ungol (insteaf of Kirith), Smaug as Smog (instead of Sma-ug), Sauron as Soron (instead of Sow-ron), Lebennin as LebEnnin (instead of LEbennin).
