Although "l'Opéra Sauvage" is considered one of Frédéric Rossif's major television productions, few copies of it remain in existence.
Director Frédéric Rossif and composer Vangelis Papathanassiou collaborated on several documentaries, including "l'Opéra Sauvage", "l'Apocalypse des Animaux" ("The Apocalypse of the Animals"), "La Fête Sauvage" ("The Wild Party"), and "Sauvage et Beau" ("Wild and Beautiful").
Although Frédéric Rossif's original documentary has all but vanished, composer Vangelis collected several of the selections he created for the soundtrack and released them in 1979 on an album titled "l'Opéra Sauvage". This album is considered one of his best, and is his second most popular album in the United States (after "Blade Runner").
