When Toad brings the cake to Major Creech, the major is not wearing a cap. After Toad blows up the latrine and the Major is covered in waste, he has a cap on.
When Terry and Joe are flying in the helicopter talking about their plans of starting "The Flying Pharaohs", Joe is wearing a green helmet. A few moments later when he's told to open up (fire his weapon), his helmet is gold. A few moments later when he gets shot, it's green again.
John is wearing gloves when he flips off Beckwith at the start of the race. After he crashes, he isn't wearing the gloves when he starts getting out of the car. He walks around to inspect his damaged front end and they show the bent wheel with nothing around it. John then pulls off his helmet in disgust and throws it at the bent wheel. They show the helmet hitting it but his missing glove is already there.
When Milner's parachute fails to open and his car runs through the safety fence and off the end of the track, it runs through a building causing damage to his front end as well as leaving a large hole through the building. After he repairs the car and races the factory team in the championship race, the aerial view of the two cars shows nothing but a field beyond the end of the race track.
When Ole and Eva are talking, they are not talking Norwegian but, in fact, Danish.
The soldier outside the HQ bunker (who spots Toad) carries and aims an AK-47-style rifle, supplied to communist forces by the Soviet Union and China. Using enemy weapons normally would be against regulations, although it was not unheard of for US soldiers in Vietnam to obtain and use weapons like the AK-47. However, this would be unlikely in relative rear areas like a fire base, especially under a commanding officer like Major Creech.
Toad is a helicopter pilot, wearing the appropriate rank of a warrant officer, yet he is treated as a low-ranking enlisted man who takes orders from the First Sergeant and is placed on details for enlisted men. Normally, this would not be the case, as a warrant officer outranks a First Sergeant, and therefore would not carry out such tasks. Additionally, Toad's poor vision would have most-likely precluded him from being a helicopter pilot in the first place.
Terry the Toad holds the rank of a CW2 Chief Warrant Officer. The Sergeant berating him about latrine duty is a Staff Sergeant, not a Sergeant First Class. Also, US Army helicopter pilots are allowed to wear glasses as long as their vision is correctable with glasses to 20/20.

When Milner pulls up to the line at the drag strip, a round sign for KYA FM is on the fence. KYA was an AM station in the '60s.
According to "bay-area-radio", KYA-FM, at 93.3 megacycles, went on the air in January 1959, duplicating KYA's AM programming full time.

When Laurie's brother Andy is burning his draft card, they use a Bic lighter. This is set in 1967; the first Bic lighter was not made until 1973.
The Vietnam sequence is set in 1965, around the time M16 rifles were introduced. Toad and other American soldiers are armed with later M16A1 rifles (distinguishable by their cylindrical muzzle and 30-round magazines) issued in 1967. While the early M16s were indeed notorious for jamming in Viet Nam's in jungle conditions, the M16A1 was specifically introduced to remedy this problem. The first M16s had jamming problems because the powder used in the ammo caused clumping which caused the rifle to jam. That problem was corrected.
As Beckwith and Milner are lining up for the race to determine who gets to race against the "Hunt Brothers factory car", after they exchange the "thumbs down" and the "middle finger", a mid-'70's yellow Camaro and a mid-'70's black Chevrolet truck can be seen in the background when they cut to the view of the starting line from the grandstands.
The settings are from 1964 to 1967, but most of the characters have modern late-1970's hairstyles, facial hair, and clothing.
When the Hunt Brother's drag car is waiting at the start line for Milner (who is replacing his front wheels), one of the crew members is wearing a shirt with a second-generation Camaro on it. These were not produced until 1970, while the setting is January 1, 1964.
When Steve looking for his wife (pretending to be a narc), he has the guy against the wall with his arm twisted behind his back. After Steve has released his arm and left, the guy continues to hold his arm bent up, but the body's natural reaction would have been to lower it as soon as it was released.
