Goofs

When Maria hits Bill with a bottle Hermann has his back to Bill with a cigarette in his mouth and then slightly turns to look at them. However in the next immediate cut which is a closeup of Hermann; he now doesn't have a cigarette in his mouth and turns again to look at them.

At the end of the cut of the two kids blowing up the firecrackers, they start laughing but no sound is heard. The sound of laughter is heard on the next cut after they get yelled at by the man scavenging for wood.

When Maria re-enters the kitchen to light a cigarette after earlier having left the oven gas on; Hermann smells gas, then yells "No" before covering his face to protect himself from the explosion. However; the timing between the explosion and Hermann covering his face was off. The sound of the explosion was delayed and occurred way after Hermann covered his face.

Maria learns English in one day by simply walking in the forest with an American soldier and repeating every sentence he says in English. She learns it so well that she later becomes a translator in business meetings. Obviously this is no way to learn a language at any level let alone at a translator level.
