Acceptable Paella-Spaghetti Western based on Dashiell Hammett's Red Harvest and professionally directed by Juan Bosch
ma-cortes4 October 2018
This is a Spanish, Italian coproduction set in the Old West and shot in Almeria, Spain, of course. It deals with a San Francisco investigator who arrives in a little town in the Old West called Personville, there he attempts to stop corruption , vice and killing . After being hired by Don Wilson , this one being eventually killed. Wilson was a powerful magnate, a rich owner whose ownerships expand into Morning Herald newspaper, mines, hotel and bank .There are various suspect people, such as : the gunman Peter the Finesh :Antonio Molino Rojo, the nasty pistolero Max Thaler nicknamed the whisperer : Daniel Martin, the beautiful widow Mrs Wilson who has bloodstains on his clothes : Lone Fleming, the sexpot Saloon girl Dina who posseses Wilson's money : Diana Lorys , a suspicious banker : Antonio Mayans, the sheriff Noonan : Roberto Camardiel and even Wilson's father : the handicapped Alan Collins or Luciano Pigozzi. The main premise of the film is to find out who's the killer. A bit later later on , in the bustling town takes place other grisly killings , including hanging , stabbing and slashing in Giallo style.

This is a murder mystery yarn with a lot of killing, gunplay , thrills fights , crossfire and high body-count . Being freely based on the known novel Red Harvest by the prestigious Noir novelist Dashiell Hammett. Passable acting by Chet Bacon as a tough wandering lawman, a Continental Agency deputy who comes to a town where lawlessnes , killings and violence roam. Decent support cast with plenty of familiar faces from Pasta , Chorizo Western and Giallo, such as Antonio Molino Rojo or Red Mills, Diana Lorys , Lone Fleming , Adolfo Thous , Jose Yepes, Eduardo Bea, Francisco Casares and Alan Collins nicknamed the Italian Peter Lorre.

Shot in Elios Studios, Rome and in studios 70 Madrid, being well produced by Jose Maria Cunilles, Luis Marin , and Pea Production/Alberto Grimaldi who financed the famous Sergio Leone Trilogy about The man without name . Evocative musical score in Spaghetti style and atmospheric cinematography by Gino Santini . The motion picture was decently directed by the Spanish Juan Bosch. He was a craftsman who wrote and directed all kinds of genres, such as : Comedy :Chica Chica Boom, Una viudita Yeye, Mauricio Mon amour, Un rolls para Hipolito, Locos vecinos del 2, Caray con el divorcio, El terrible de Chcago. Terror and Giallo :Exorcismo, Muerte llama a las 10, Los 1000 ojos del asesino. And western: Caza del oro, Buitres cavaran tu fosa , Abre tu fosa amigo llega Sabata , La diligencia de los condenados , Una bala marcada , Dallas . His best story was a film noir titled A sangre fria or In cold blood. Rating :6 out of 10. Acceptable and passable Tortilla Pasta flick that will appeal to Continental Westerns fans .
