Lustig Before Maniac

Hot Honey (1978)

** 1/2 (out of 4)

Lustig's second (known) porn film has young Honey (Heather Young) being dumped by her boyfriend of four months because she won't allow him to do anything but kiss her. She lives at home with her injured brother who she eventually catches messing around with his nurse (Serena) and this sets something off inside her. It's not really know how many adult movies Lustig made. He admits to this one and the previous THE VIOLATION OF CLAUDIA but there could have been more that we don't know about. This film certainly isn't a masterpiece but it's certainly a lot better than your typical bump 'n grind flick. I think fans of the director will want to check this out as you can clearly see stuff here that would come in use two years later when the director made his masterpiece MANIAC. Both films contain a lot of footage of 42nd Street and the various porn theaters down there. This movie kicks off with a marquee of JAWS 2 with a poster of THE SWARM being in the background of coming soon. This sequence continues past some porn theaters where we see even more posters. These are probably stolen shots but this is something that happened throughout the making of MANIAC as well. Lustig is clearly wanting to keep the film moving as he's camera is constantly on the movie. This certainly brings some style to the movie. The director, who also co-wrote the screenplay, also adds a lot of fantasy sequences, which actually work quite well including the one where Honey finally breaks free after seeing her brother. The sex scenes range from your average stuff to a rather erotic lesbian scene. We also get some pretty weird stuff including the lesbian scene ending up in the bathroom with a toilet cleaning brush being used to comb some hair. There are a few flaws to be seen as well including a couple time when the microphone can easily be seen in the frame. The cast fit their roles nicely, although it's pretty clear Young was no actress as her line delivery earns plenty of laughs.

Hot Honey

The best part of the movie was scene one. Loved Robin Byrd, she was so hot giving Jack Hammer great head. I loved the way he gave it to her up her back door and up her gorgeous, tight, lubricated poopchute. Wanted to be in his position. Love to know where I can obtain another dvd copy. Could watch that scene over and over. Only wish it was longer

Solid 70's porn by William Lustig
Woodyanders22 October 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Sexually repressed young virgin Honey (sweetly played by fetching slender blonde Colleen Anderson) refuses to make love to her frustrated boyfriend Johnny (brawny Jack Hammer). Honey instead spends her time tending to her angry and domineering wheelchair-bound brother Michael (Jamie Gillis in fine overbearing form). However, Honey eventually experiences a belated sexual awakening that compels her to start seducing both men and women alike.

Director William Lustig, who also co-wrote the racy script with Travis Webb, certainly delivers the arousing goods with the hot, raunchy, and explicit carnal set pieces: We've got kinky S&M, brother/sister incest, some extremely steamy lesbianism, and, best of all, a super scorching and strenuous climactic threesome. The presence of a trio of tasty babes in substantial supporting parts provides extra sizzle: The always yummy Serena as an enticing nurse, buxom stunner Lisa Marks as the tantalizing Sara, and foxy brunette Robin Byrd as the lusty Bette. Robert Lindsay's fairly polished cinematography boasts a few neat fades and dissolves. The funky-throbbing score by Chris D'Antoni and Richard Rau hits the get-down groovy spot (the disco theme song in particular is a real catchy number). The opening credits sequence presents some choice footage of Times Square in its gloriously seedy 70's heyday. Recommended viewing for fans of Golden Age adult fare.
