Mario is beaten by two cops, presumably because they were warned about his threat to one of the heads of the company. He does not get arrested though. Later on, another alleged cops search for him at his house, claiming Mario robbed someone. It's never explained why Mario wasn't arrested earlier, when those policemen knew about his crime.
A prominent boom mic is visible, below on the right corner, in the scene when Laura visits Mario in their unfinished house.
