David Carradine and Simone Griffeth in Death Race 2000 (1975)

Goofs

Death Race 2000

Edit

Continuity

At about 56:00 into the film, during their last stop at Albuquerque, near the last scene in the film before resuming the race, while talking to Frankenstein, Annie takes a stocking off. Then, after the camera goes from Frankenstein back to her, she is again taking the same stocking off.
At about 31:00 into the film, when Frankenstein and Annie are in their hotel room during the first pit stop, Frankenstein takes his mask off. One minute later, when he asks Annie to dance, he still has his mask on.
At about 1:05:00 into the film, when Frankenstein is being attacked by the airplane, he pulls his navigator's sedated body closer to the middle of the car and she disappears and reappears in subsequent shots.
Although the film refers to the country as the "United Provinces of America", a banner can be seen near the start of it as Machine Gun Joe VeTurbo pulls into the raceway that says "United States".
At about 17:00 into the film, when the "bullfighter" challenges Calamity Jane, there is a quick close-up of a spinning wheel whose rim is different than those on Jane's car.

Factual errors

At about 1:05:00 into the film, the airplane holds just one bomb but, nonetheless, multiple explosions occur when it attacks.
When Annie and Frankenstein are fighting over control of the car, the tires are squealing even though they're driving on dirt and grass.

Revealing mistakes

During Frankenstein & Machine Gun Joe's fight scene, an obvious stunt double for Sly Stallone can be seen throughout much of the fighting.
When Matilda's car goes over the cliff, there's nobody in it.

Miscellaneous

In the theatrical version of the film and all home video versions of it right up to the "Roger Corman's Cult Classics" DVD release, there were some errors in it that have since been corrected. Traffic has been cropped from the shot when Machine Gun Joe VeTurbo runs over the man hanging up the "Frankenstein" banner on the street (which previously made nonsense of the earlier newscast of "citizens staying off the streets"). A crew member previously visible when Joe runs down the fisherman has also been cropped out.

Crew or equipment visible

A cameraman and a camera are visible in a reflection of a trumpet in the opening shot of the film.

Errors in geography

The racers are shown driving through mountainous terrain, even when they are supposed to be in parts of the country, such as New Jersey and Missouri, that do not have any mountains of this type.
At about 10:00 into the film, the shot of the racers in Manhattan en route to the Lincoln Tunnel was clearly filmed in downtown Los Angeles.
The contestants start the race by driving from NYC to New Jersey via the Lincoln Tunnel. However, when they emerge from the tunnel, they are not in the densely populated town of Weehawken on the New Jersey side but in a rural area with open terrain characteristic of the West.

Plot holes

At about 1:03:00 into the film, when Frankenstein pretends to drink the energy drink in the car after slipping a sleeping pill in it for Annie, he says the flavor is vanilla. When Annie tastes it and says it is not vanilla, Frankenstein blames it on his taste buds being wiped out from a crash in a past race. This statement comes right after Frankenstein has explained to Annie that he is a new Frankenstein and was never in any of the accidents of the past, which had various different Frankensteins driving in the race instead.

Character error

At about 16:00 into the film, as Harold announces the new scoring system, he says that women are 10 points, more than men in all age brackets. After going through teenagers and toddlers under 12, he then says that elderly people are 100 points, no matter which sex they are.
