Early in the movie Steve leaves work and rides the bus wearing a flannel shirt and brown pants. Once at home he is wearing disheveled business attire -- gray pants, a blue dress shirt and tie. No reason is given for why a man who works in a foundry would change into business clothes at home.
No way could the two men survive a fall of that height into water. The water would have acted as hard as concrete.
The climactic chase at the end takes place on windy, rocky, mountainous roads. There is no area like that anywhere near Chicago, where the film is set.
