Goofs

When Harry's son first arrives with a trailer to pick up the dispossessed Harry and his furniture his light green Chevelle has a sunroof. In subsequent scenes the car is identical except the sunroof has magically disappeared.

During Harry, Ginger and Norman's cross-country trip they stop at a railroad crossing. As the car comes to a stop (camera in front, ground level), there is no car behind them and none visible coming up the road. When the scene shifts to inside the car for Norman's violin performance (camera now at about dashboard level), what appears to be a white or light-color van is visible out the back window. As they pull away after the train has passed and Norman has finished playing (camera angle now above and behind their car), a brown car follows.

Leaving Harry's apartment, in the first shot, the trailer carrying his furniture is uncovered, in the second shot it's covered with a tarp.

When Harry sits down in his apartment with the newspaper, he takes off his glasses and puts them on the table next to his chair. In the next shot, he has the glasses on again and takes them off to put on his reading glasses.

Soon after Harry buys the old used car, we see him driving it while telling Tonto a story. First shot (exterior) shows Harry in the outside lane. The camera switches to inside the car and we see Harry in the inside lane.

When Harry is briefly jailed, he is allowed to keep his suitcase and other personal belongings in his cell. None of these things would ever be allowed in a holding tank.

We see the same light Green Lincoln , a light Green Chevrolet and many of the same cars in almost every traffic scene.

Overhead boom mike is visible in two scenes. First, when Harry is sitting on the couch with Eddie at Eddie's apartment. Second, when Harry is playing chess by the beach.

When Stephanie drops Harry off at the casino in Las Vegas, a huge silhouette of the entire filming crew is visible on the side of the car.

Harry buys a car to travel . Soon after he heads out , one can see a palm tree in the background. None grow in New York.

Harry is in Arizona when he drops off Ginger and her friend who are headed to Boulder Colorado. They would have reached Boulder before arriving in Arizona if they were starting out in New York.

In the story, after arriving in Chicago, Harry rents a car and drives west. However, in reality he is actually driving east. I lived in the city (Geneva, IL) where they filmed Harry driving his rental car. Based on landmarks I could see, he drove along State St (Route 38) from the west side of the city, ending up at the Geneva Motel, which is on the far east end of the city.
