Carry on Dick (1974)

Goofs

Carry on Dick

Edit

Continuity

The first time that Sir Roger Daley is held up by Dick and left naked you see the driver also left the same way. When they pull up into the town the next day still naked, it's a different driver to the one before.
When Dick Turpin teaches Harriet to count, his coat keeps on vanishing.
Kenneth Williams and Jack Douglas are sitting on a bench next to the stairs in the inn. They are sitting so close together that their arms are touching. However when Sid James walks up the stairs, Kenneth Williams is by himself, Jack Douglas cannot be seen.
When Rev Flasher enters the pub and is talking to the innkeeper, old Maggie is seen smoking a pipe. As the camera focuses in on Flasher, she is now drinking from a lidded tankard.

Factual errors

The voiceover at the beginning of the film refers to England 1750 but the pictures shown are of the early 19th century.

Revealing mistakes

After Harriet has been caught with the stolen bracelet, she is led away at gunpoint. The pistol that Captain Fancey threatens her with, however, is in a "fired" position, with the cocking lever fully forward.
Bernie Bresslaw having been robbed of all of his clothes is taken by his coach to the local constable who gives him a pair of ladies bloomers to put on. He then gets out of the coach and as he walks into the police station there's a glimpse of blue pants peeking over the top of the bloomers.

Anachronisms

The Church has an obviously modern sign
Modern guttering on the buildings
Modern concrete bollards outside the church
Tarmac covered road outside the church with dotted white lines painted down the centre of the road.
When Captain Fancey is running down the stairs away from Madame Desiree's girls he can be seen wearing Y-front briefs a style of underwear that wasn't invented until 1935.
