Excellent combination of music and animation

This short was nominated for an Academy Award and was most deserving of the honor. Narrated by Roberta Flack, who also sings the folk song about John Henry, this is a particularly effective use of the animation style used here-minimal animation and very basic drawings. Emphasis here is on the story and Flack is marvelous in the narration. An excellent re-telling of an old, familiar tale. Highly recommended.
