Goofs

The Last of Sheila

Edit

Continuity

When the group lines up outside the yacht for the photo, Christine has her sunglasses on. When Clinton hangs up the photo, it shows Christine with no sunglasses.
In the photograph of the six guests, they are lined up closer to the boat than they were when the picture taken; it also is at a different angle.
The ice pick shown in flashbacks at the church is different from the one being taken from the ice bucket.
After Tom throws some darts into the scoreboard, a later shot of the board shows the darts in different positions from where they first landed.
When everyone decides to show their cards and place them on the table in closeup, they are placed differently on the table in the following wide shot.

Factual errors

Yacht crew members are shown racing to the engine order telegraph to move the lever from "Full Astern" to "Stop", and the engines quit immediately. In real life, this device is not connected directly to the engines like a gas pedal on a car, but merely signals to the crew in the engine room what RPMs the engine should be set at by them. Since there was nobody in the engine room but the person with bad intent, the engines would have kept going for awhile until a crew member got to the engine room itself. The indicator on the telegraph, as set from the engine room, is on "Finished With Engines".
One of the characters mentions that, after Sheila's funeral, mourners immediately went to Las Vegas to see Barbra Streisand's opening at The Sands; Streisand never headlined at that hotel.

Incorrectly regarded as goofs

When Christine shuts the door to the bathroom after joining Clinton there, the lampshade on one of the nearby sconces falls off. However, this is not necessarily a goof as it is entirely possible that the jarring of closing a door could cause a loose lampshade to fall.
Christine claims to "speak Frog" (French), but mispronounces "clef" (key) as "clay." Unlike many final consonants in French, an f is pronounced as it is in English. However, she was exaggerating her prowess in the language.

Revealing mistakes

In some shots of Christine underwater, the wall of the water tank she is in is visible - by the horizontal seam running across the top third of the frame.
During the opening credits, the yacht "Sheila" is seen with her anchor chain nearly vertical. That does not work - even a slight drift of the boat puts a tremendous stress on the chain. (The chain length should be at least 3 times the water depth.)

Crew or equipment visible

Crew and lighting equipment reflected in Clinton's sunglasses next to the group of guests from the picture after he takes the picture on the dock.
In the monastery scene, the white cord running from the flashlight to the hidden battery pack can be seen in Christine's right sleeve when she straightens up from looking in a well or cistern.
