The mysterious non-existent intruder
bkoganbing3 December 2014
Warning: Spoilers
In this pilot story for the Hawkins series Jimmy Stewart together with his cousin and investigator Strother Martin is retained by Robert Webber to represent his client Bonnie Bedelia who is charged with killing her father, stepmother, and stepsister and making a pretty bloody job of it.

She looks pretty good for it also and Bedelia claims it was done by an unknown intruder. The problem for the police is that there's no evidence anyone was ever in the place that didn't belong.

The only other relative is Kate Reid who is Bedelia's aunt, sister of her mother who lives with the family. She inherits if everyone else is eliminated. And it's rather obvious from the beginning she is the murderer if you believe Bedelia is innocent and Billy Jim Hawkins like Perry Mason defends no guilty clients. He does pull a Perry Mason like solution in court.

Not much suspense but Stewart's expansive interpretation of the part of Billy Jim Hawkins covers a lot of flaws in this and future episodes.
