Although Hotten, the nearest town to Emmerdale, is generally portrayed as a medium-sized market town, it somehow gained an international airport at some point, with several references to Hotten Airport in the 2020s. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the show featured several scenes at an airport not named in the script, but signage for Doncaster Sheffield Airport (which closed in 2022) was clearly visible in the background.
In scripts, Mackenzie Boyd is portrayed as a contemporary of Ryan Stocks, Aaron Dingle and Nate Robinson age-wise. However, in terms of the age gap between him and his older sister Moira (around 12 years), Mackenzie should be around 41 in 2024; approximately ten years older than those characters (and eight years older than actor Andrew Robb). Similarly, Meena Jutla - introduced around the same time as the much younger sibling of an existing character, Manpreet Sharma - is established as over 15 years younger than her sister, yet in other scripts the two are portrayed as much closer in age (for example, fighting over a Walkman).
