During the whole movie, the Greek Army appears as an ally of the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire. Never in the history of the two nations, was an alliance between Greece and Turkey.
When the biplanes strafe the trucks they let out the iconic 'jericho trumpet' sound of a WWII Stuka dive bomber. Also, they should hardly be over-revving anyway in a strafing and bombing role.
During the strafing of the Greek Army camp, a Greek flag appears with the wrong colors (blue cross on a white field and the first stripe from the top being white, instead of white cross on a blue field and the top stripe blue). Even if the flag was hand made on the spot, a true Greek officer or soldier would have never made that mistake.
The mercenaries are armed with thompson submachine guns which fire a. 45cal pistol cartridge. the bandoleers they are wearing contain what look like around a .30 rifle cartridge, maybe .30-06, .303 7mm, tough to say, but decidedly too long for the thompsons. point is, they are not carrying any rifles.
The greek camp is attacked by a pair of biplanes. when they first appear, they have no bombs under their wings. subsequent shots show bombs with places for two under each wing, yet they appear to cause around 30 explosions. kinda like the hero's 'six' shooter in a hollywood western. but in this sort of dismal farce, apparently no one should be counting. or perhaps there were some 8 or more planes.
The movie is set in 1922, but a contemporary Canadian flag appears on the wall in the tavern. In 1970, when the film was made, the Canadian flag shown had only existed for five years.
Though the Movie is set in the early 1920s, some of the Tommy Guns shown have simple stamped metal Rear Sights; a Modification that did not occur until about 1942, during WW2.
The story is set in 1922, but when Adam Dyer (Charles Bronson) meets Aila (Michele Mercier), Dyer says, "And who's she? Little Orphan Annie?" The comic strip Little Orphan Annie did not debut until 1924.
The sultan's daughters who were part of the precious cargo they were hired to protect vanished from the script without anyone caring... or even noticing.
The fate of the band of mercenaries accompanying Dyer (Curtis) and Corey (Bronson) after the final battle on the ship is unknown. They are last seen surrendering to the Turkish military.
