Mark of the Devil (1970)

Goofs

Mark of the Devil

Edit

Continuity

Daumer's pink spangled knee britches appear and disappear at will: A guard strips him of them at the beginning of the first torture session, but by the end of the session they have magically reappeared on him, and they go on and off in consecutive shots in the execution scene.

Factual errors

A man is told that he will be tortured with Spanish boot, but is then stretched. Spanish boot is a device resembling a boot that is put on the victim's leg and since it's full of spikes, it causes great pain.

Revealing mistakes

Whenever two women are burnt to death, they immediately go silent when fire reaches them and stop moving, revealing that they are replaced with dummies.
Obviously a fake tongue used for a scene where woman has her tongue pulled out. It is obvious when it's shown grasped in her mouth. It doesn't match the look of her tongue shown in the shot before.
When Christian is running away from a castle that has been stormed, he passes by the gate where a dead soldier is sitting dead with his back on the wall. He is clearly breathing.

Anachronisms

In the street scene 12 minutes in, a 20th Century traffic sign is visible, which the film makers have tried to hide by covering in a basket and having someone sat in front of it in a large cloak.

Crew or equipment visible

Around the 13-minute mark, the shadow of the camera and operator are visible in three shots as the camera makes its way through a crowd of villagers.
