Feng Hsu in A Touch of Zen (1971)

Goofs

A Touch of Zen

Edit

Continuity

Around 02:51:15, the woman got injuries on her right cheek. Around 02:51:36, the injuries are on her left cheek.
(at around 138 mins) When Ku Shen Chai bows to Yang Lian's memorial plate, a scatter of blood stains on a curtain behind the plate does not match a scatter of blood stains on the same curtain in the scene before.

Factual errors

The film is set in the 14th century AD. However, the Gu family have maize (corn) drying outside their house - this crop is American in origin and did not reach China until the 16th century.
The candles seen in the film are clearly modern paraffin candles. 14th-century Chinese candles made from tallow or whale fat did not have that bright white color.

Miscellaneous

(at around 18 mins) When Ku Shen Chai enters the neighboring house to check for noises at night, the lit lantern he holds itself casts a shadow on the wooden door, reviling that in fact another artificial light source was used in the scene.

Audio/visual unsynchronised

The sound effects are wrong whenever a wooden staff hits a metal sword. Several times the film has it make a sharp clang, as though metal were striking metal.

Crew or equipment visible

In several shots, dirt is clearly visible on the camera lens.
