Brigitte Bardot and Sean Connery in Shalako (1968)

Goofs

Shalako

Edit

Continuity

A flaming arrow hits one of the covered wagons along the side, but it goes up in flames at the front above the driver's seat.
In the Indian attack on the stage coach Honor Blackman runs from the coach and flings herself down faking death. An Indian kneels over pouring sand in her mouth. In the next shot he's standing over her and in her underskirt.

  • - - With regards to Honor Blackman's attire changing, from dress to underwear, this is not a Goof, but due to the film being edited to remove the scene of the rape of her character. [PM]

Factual errors

Joshua trees are seen in the desert of New Mexico. Joshua trees are indigenous to the Mohave desert regions of Calif and small portions of Nevada and Arizona. There are none in New Mexico.

There are none in Spain, either, which is where this movie was filmed.

Revealing mistakes

One of the cowboys killed fleeing from the overturned coach can be seen still breathing.

Miscellaneous

As the Apaches attack the camp, a brave is shot from his horse. As he rolls on the ground, his wig comes off, revealing short, light brown hair.
The Apache take a long time to catch up with the coach after it leaves the camp, even though they can easily track it.
At the time of the movie, Europeans had being making treaties with the Native Americans for centuries. It therefore makes no sense for the educated people in the hunting party to laugh off the agreement with the Apache.

Plot holes

Shalako tells the hunting party that the Apache have excellent tactics, but then he manages to fool the Apache into calling off the attack with one smoke signal. Incredibly all the Apache go, leaving the camp unguarded, and don't return until everyone has escaped.
