Patty Duke, Susan Hayward, Sharon Tate, and Barbara Parkins in Valley of the Dolls (1967)

Goofs

Valley of the Dolls

Edit

Continuity

When Neely is tap dancing on the table, shown by her shadow on the wall, the shadow does not reflect a pony tail, but when she jumps down, she has a pony tail.
While poolside at Neeley's house, Jennifer takes off her shoes which repeatedly appear and disappear under a coat Neeley throws on top of them.
In the famous catfight scene in the dressing room, Neely O' Hara is wearing drop earrings. After she pulls off the wig off Helen Lawson, the earrings are on her ears. She runs into the toilet room, and the earrings disappear by the time she flushes the wig in the toilet.
While recovering in bed at the hotel after her biopsy, Jennifer's hair flip-flops from hanging down her back to hanging down in front of her nightgown.
Toward the end of the movie, a drugged Anne staggers into the ocean, becoming soaked and muddy. When she returns to the house shortly after, her robe is immediately dry.

Factual errors

Jennifer and Tony are seen exiting a performance of the musical "Hello Dolly" at the Los Angeles Music Center's Mark Taper Forum; all (non-opera) musical productions at the Music Center perform at the adjacent 2000 seat Ahmanson Theater. The Taper is the smallest venue at the Music Center, with just over 700 seats and no orchestra pit; totally inadequate to host a musical production.

Incorrectly regarded as goofs

When a drunken Neely plops down on a chaise at Lyon's house, one of the bows on her shoe comes flying off. This is not a goof as attachments on shoes often come undone.

Revealing mistakes

When Anne goes to her room at the hotel, she opens her window to let a soft breeze flow through the room and then goes to bed. However, there was snow on the ground in NYC, and she would have been freezing from the cold air coming in. The next day she drives away from NYC, while there are still several inches of snow on the ground.
Right after Lyon Burke advises Neely O'Hara to check into a sanitarium, he leaves. Neely then goes to a phone, dials it, and picks up the receiver to speak to someone already on the line.

Audio/visual unsynchronised

After Lyon says goodbye to Anne and her entourage at a restaurant, Jennifer is heard to hastily say, "I'll have the butterfly steak." The pan from Lyon to Jennifer, however, is too quick, and her mouth isn't moving as she looks at the menu.

Character error

When Ann arrives at the rehearsal hall to give contracts to Helen Lawson, she is told Helen's dressing room would be on her right. It turns out it was on her left.
