Tony Curtis, Claudia Cardinale, and Sharon Tate in Don't Make Waves (1967)

Goofs

Don't Make Waves

Edit

Continuity

Sharon Tate's trampoline stunt double has hair longer and lighter in color than Tate's.
Early in the film when Laura Califatti (Claudia Cardinale) invites Carlo Cofield (Tony Curtis) over to her apartment, he is seen sitting in a chair on her porch holding an unlit cigar. The camera cuts away to Laura inside the apartment who then comes out onto the porch, and there is no cigar in Carlo's hand. Laura is holding a cigar box which she offers to Carlo, and he then picks out a cigar.
When Carlo is trying to sell a pool to the Backuses, Henny changes positions between shots from being the closest person to the house to being the furthest away.
At the beginning, Carlo Cofield stops his car, grabs some papers and his lunch, and hops on a stone wall overlooking the sea. As he sees Laura Califatti struggling with her canvas and easel, he takes out his sandwich. He continues to watch her as he holds the sandwich in his right hand and the paperwork in his left. Laura continues fighting with the canvas, then "sails" it toward the sea. The camera cuts back to a closeup of Carlo, who now is chewing and opening a bottle of cola that slightly foams over and runs onto his left hand. As the view switches to show Carlo still looking at Laura as she packs up her easel and supplies. Carlo again is holding the papers (in his left hand) and the sandwich. As Laura starts to leave, the camera cuts back to focus solely on Carlo, who now is holding only the sandwich, while the papers are now somehow on the wall to his right.
(at around 48 mins) When Harry is carrying a large appliance into Carlo's new home, his right hand grip initially is near the bottom, but after a scene cut, it is midway up the appliance, near the handle.

Revealing mistakes

In the beginning of the film, Carlo has just driven from New York to the West Coast, yet his Volkswagen has California license plates.

Crew or equipment visible

At the start of the film, as Carlo's driverless Volkswagen is rolling down the hill, a darkly-painted cardboard box with viewing holes cut in it can be seen; this is meant to hide the stunt driver of the runaway car.

Character error

When Malibu (Sharon Tate) emerges from the ocean after knocking out Carlo (Tony Curtis) with her surfboard, she is clearly wearing full-facial make-up - lipstick, mascara, and rouge - which would have been washed off by having been in the water.
