One Of The Better Daffy/Speedy Shorts
MartyD82-11 June 2005
Daffy owns an electronics store and decides to not allow people to use his equipment without buying it (ie. no TV sets, radios, etc. can be left on in his store without paying). Meanwhile, it's Speedy's birthday and he must have music to keep the party going. Which means somehow tricking Daffy into letting him play a radio in his store.

This cartoon is yet another example of the mean/nasty Daffy (albeit not to the extent of other cartoons like Well Worn Daffy or The Astroduck), though here it makes a little more sense as Daffy is simply trying to run a legitimate business and doesn't want people using his equipment without buying it. The way he goes to such great lengths just to keep Speedy and his friends from listening to music at his store is pretty funny, and the cartoon as a whole is more well rounded and consistent than other Daffy/Speedy shorts. There's nothing jaw dropping or imaginative here, but on the whole it works reasonably well.

Overall, this stands as probably one of the best Daffy/Speedy shorts. That, of course, isn't saying a whole lot; but you can't argue with even mild success, can you?

OK Speedy and Daffy short
Tweekums6 July 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Donald Duck is the proprietor of a television and radio shop in Mexico and he doesn't like anybody to watch or listen if they aren't buying anything. This leads to a run in with Speedy Gonzales who lives in the store and is trying to throw a party for the other mice. They want swing music so they can have a good dance but Daffy is determined that they will not get it. Speedy races in and turns on the radio but Daffy switches it off again; this is repeated several times till Speedy starts using dynamite on Daffy! Even this doesn't stop Daffy; he switches off the power but Speedy just steals a transistor... if Daffy wants to stop Speedy's choice of music he will just have to go to the radio station and force them to play something else!

This is a fairly funny short; certainly better that the other Speedy/Daffy short I watched recently; the plot is basic but serves to give some decent laughs. I still think Sylvester was a better and more natural adversary for Speedy... Sylvester was a cat that acted like a cat but Daffy is a duck who acts human! If you are a fan of either character it is worth watching but it isn't particularly memorable.

Better than expected
TheLittleSongbird27 June 2011
Despite being a fan of Daffy, I am not a big fan of the Daffy/Speedy cartoons. Some are okay, but then there are those like See Ya Later Gladiator that are some of my least favourites of the Looney Tunes canon. Go Go Amigo was better than expected. The animation while it could have been worse is not great, some of it looks dull and lacks finesse in the backgrounds, while the story is standard and not exactly imaginative. Also, while the cartoon doesn't end as unsatisfyingly or as abruptly as some of the other cartoons of this set it could have been perhaps less rushed. However, the music does have some authentic flavour and doesn't sound tacky like Bill Lava's use of canned music can do, and the writing and sight gags are surprisingly funny and consistent. I am not a fan of Speedy but he is less abrasive than he can be and is decent enough, while Daffy does well with his greedy and mean persona. Mel Blanc is fun too. All in all, quite good. 7/10 Bethany Cox
