The jet Commander Jackson flies off in at first when recalled from vacation appears to be a B-52, with dual engine pods at each of the four wing stations, for a total of eight engines. This is obvious in the view from below as the jet takes off billowing black exhaust. A short time later, the jet is shown from above as it's flying and it's a delta-wing four-engine jet, with the two inboard engine on each side of the cockpit clearly single engines and not double engine pods.
The first aircraft shown is a six-engine B-47, not an eight-engine B-52. Interior shots show two men (presumably pilots) seated side-by-side; the B-47 had tandem front-and-back seating. The aircraft then does indeed transform into a delta-wing four-engine B-58.
Igrun's great plan to flood and then freeze the Earth does not seem to account for the ability of fish, foul, fauna, or agriculture to survive in order to provide sustenance for his race.
After destroying the first asteroids, the crew member on Commander Jackson's left breaks off a knob as she tries to turn it.
While preparing for the climactic space battle, Commander Rod Jackson repeatedly refers to utilizing an "Eon Drive", mispronouncing the word "Ion". Eons refer to passages of time, ions are charged particles which science fiction writers often posit as a source of thrust for space ship engines.
