Edith arrives at her apartment above the cocktail lounge in broad daylight, but when her boyfriend Jim comes to visit less than fifteen minutes later it is dark outside.
Edie is wearing sunglasses when Tony gives her the heather brooch and notices the burn on her hand. He says "poor baby" and kisses her. The kiss continues, but when the camera moves behind Edie, she is not wearing sunglasses. When the camera shifts back again to behind Tony, the kiss ends and Edie's sunglasses are back on.
When Edith arrives at Maggie's home and removes her veil, she adjusts her hair twice before removing her hat.
Window Shade: At one point, Edie enters her apartment. Before she enters you can see the window shade is down. But when she goes inside, its up and she pulls it down. (Darren T.)
Who puts their high heels on to walk around her bedroom in the middle of the night.
Even identical twins do not have identical fingerprints.
As an identical twin myself, one can be assured it is impossible to switch places and nobody notices.
If there was ANY doubt about who Mrs. DeLorca was, simple fingerprinting would have solved the entire case in 5 mins. Even identical twins do not have identical sets of fingerprints.
When the dog "Duke" attacks Tony, the head and shoulders of the dog is not real.
Edie has Margaret sit in a chair, then shoots her in the temple. Edie them removes Margaret's clothes and puts them on (in order to assume her identity). But Edie never bathes herself or washes these clothes. Had Edie shot Margaret in the temple, blood would have been everywhere on both Edie and Margaret. Further Margaret's clothes would have been soaked in blood.
As Edith is leaving her apartment for the final time after murdering her sister Maggie, she turns to look at her sister's dead body slouched over in the chair. It is apparent that Maggie's dead body is breathing.
Due to bright lighting during several shots at the funeral showing twins portrayed by Bette Davis, it's obvious - even with a veil over her face - that one of the characters is actually a double (in reality, Davis sort-of look-alike, Connie Cezon).
Edie's Bar has a length of about 25 ft. Her apartment sits above and astride of it, as indicated by the staircase to its entry door. In several shots, Edith looks out her one-room apartment's window to view the street. Her vantage point is impossible considering the apartment is no deeper than about 12 feet.
When Mrs DeLorca is with her attorney signing papers his briefcase has two latches, but a third latch sound effect is seen and heard.
Edie's framed "first-earned dollar" from her cocktail lounge has an inscription dated "New Years 1957" but the signature on the dollar bill is from JFK's Secretary of the Treasury, who did not begin until 1961.
The drummer playing at Edie's Lounge is not hitting the same drums or cymbals we hear.
The film features the Perri Lee Blackwell Trio on its audio track but in the cocktail lounge scenes only pianist/leader, Blackwell and drummer, Kenny Dennis, are shown. The bass player is missing.
