At the point where first officer Howett first sees midshipman Poop-Decker his colleague Mr Angel is hiding at the side of the staircase a good distance away from Poop-Decker. At the moment when Howett tells Poop-Decker to close his eyes Angel is standing right behind him. However, in the next cut he is standing further back where he was originally positioned when Howett began his conversation with Poop-Decker.
At the end, our heroes are granted "the freedom of the City of London" by the monarch. This is one of the few things the monarch couldn't grant. Since Magna Carta the City of London has enjoyed a fiercely defended independence from the monarch. Technically the monarch can't even enter it without explicit permission.
No pirate captain would sink an undamaged ship. At the least, it would be taken to a port and sold. At best, he now has the beginnings of a fleet, making it easier to capture others.
In many scenes, the ordinary sailors and pirates are seen wearing shoes on board the ship. Sailors in these times went barefoot aboard ship as it made it easier to move on the generally wet deck and to climb into the rigging.
There are several references to "gold sovereigns". Sovereigns (20 shillings) weren't issued until 1820. Prior to that, the gold coins in use were Guineas (21 shillings).
