The Punch and Judy Man (1963)

Goofs

The Punch and Judy Man

Edit

Factual errors

When the boy lists the ingredients to the Piltdown Glory he lists 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream and 2 scoops of chocolate Ice cream but when it is made the 2 scoops of chocolate ice cream are missed out.
Any seaside town in the UK would have been much older than 60 years in 1962.
In the opening scene in the Pinners' kitchen, Wally is pouring out breakfast cereal and is irritated to find that the free gift (a constant feature of cereals in the 1960s) has fallen into his dish. When he picks it up, it is seen to be a plastic toy aeroplane. However, the opened cereal packet seen in the kitchen throughout the movie is Kellogg's Rice Krispies showing a free gift of collector cards called Ships of the British Navy. This was on sale in 1962, so it seems that a box of cereal was randomly bought for the scene, but a little picture card was not visually strong enough, and so a shop-bought toy was substituted.

Revealing mistakes

Dudley House Bed & Breakfast has a Bognor Regis, rather than Piltdown, phone number, so revealing the genuine location used.
Tony Hancock looks directly at the camera several times during the film.

Miscellaneous

Charles Greville's "Daily Mail" report on the gala opening is - after the first paragraph - largely about Michael Tippett, his new opera "King Priam", and a weather forecast.
