When the car approaches Hobbes and Turner during their bird watching expedition, they are walking in the middle of the road, effectively blocking traffic. In the next shot, the car has room to go around them.

As the Hobbs family arrives home from vacation, the kids pile out of the car, leaving the rear driver side door open. In the next shot of Mr. Hobbs standing next to the car, the rear door is suddenly shut.

When the Hobbs family is getting in the car to leave, Mrs Hobbs calls to Katey to come on. The passenger car window is down. When Mrs Hobbs gets into the car, the window is up.

You see Mr. Hobbs fire up the water pump and walk into the kitchen to open the taps. Brenda, who has come back to the family and to the house, sees him and walks out the door. When Mr. Hobbs opens the taps, water gushes up out of the drain. When it does, Mr. Hobbs gets a few spots of water on the left front pant leg of his jeans. He immediately walks out of the kitchen to talk to Peggy and the water spots are gone.

When the family is going home, Mr. Hobbs loosely puts a tarp on top of the car and a moment later it is shown tied down.

Roger introduces Marika to Byron as his "neighbor", who always seems to be sunbathing directly in front of his place, yet other than their pump house, there are no other buildings anywhere near the Hobbs' house.

Possibly trying to comfort his son that he knew what he was doing, Hobbs explains that he made a 90 point course correction in the Spatterbox. There are 32 points on the nautical compass.

In the parking lot of the yacht club after the teenage dance, as Katey and Joe approach the Hobbs' car and other teens are leaving behind them, there is a noticeable echo from being recorded in a soundstage or other large indoor facility.

When Mr. Hobbs and Mr. Turner leave the house 'very early in the morning' to go bird watching, the sun is shining very brightly and the porch is fully lit. Since the porch faces South-Southwest on the beach, and the sun sets in the West, it is evident that it is late afternoon and not early in the morning.

When Mr. Hobbs is stuck in the bathroom with Mrs. Turner, there are voluminous amounts of steam being generated in the room but they aren't coming from any water source,such as the shower or the sink. Instead, the steam is coming from down on the floor by where the toilet would be.

After meeting the Turners, right before the Hobbs go to bed, Mr. Hobbs tells his wife he would rather have a conversation with Khrushchev than the Turners. It is obviously dubbed in; it is hard to tell what he really said.

When the Hobbs' family returns home, you can see red clay tile roofs, Spanish architecture, and Palm Trees in the background. While the first two could be possible in St. Louis, Palm Trees certainly don't grow there.

Every morning when they go to the beach, their shadows project away from the ocean. That could only happen in the late afternoon on the West coast.

Mr. Turner spots a red-eyed vireo, which does not inhabit California.

The Hobbs family hails from St. Louis, MO. The rental house is near San Francisco, CA. That's a distance of over 2000 miles. Figuring driving steadily for 10 hours a day at 60 mph, the journey would have taken 3 to 4 days to complete each way. Yet, at the end of the movie the family is dressed in the same clothing when they arrive home as they were in when they left. Either they washed clothing somewhere along the way or they drove very, very quickly.

When Mrs. Turner in locked in the bathroom, Jimmy Stewart calls her Mrs. Hobbs and she says, "Mrs. Turner" and he says, "Oh yes, Mrs. Turner."
