The Fast Lady (1962)

Goofs

The Fast Lady

Edit

Continuity

During the car chase, an old man (Clive Dunn) jumps from a burning building and lands in the back seat of Chingford's Bentley between Freddie and Claire. He is never seen again in the film: when the car is next seen as a man carrying a microscope posts a letter, the old man has vanished.
At the beginning, when Troon is knocked off his bicycle, the other cyclists carry on ahead. However, when the incident is noticed by the others they had all stopped just a few feet away.
When Claire drives Murdoch back to his lodgings, she parks her car at an oblique angle to the sidewalk, in front of the Bentley. But when Freddie drives off with her in the Bentley, her Mini is parked parallel to the sidewalk. As Murdoch watches them depart, and then as he waits for them to return, it is again parked at an oblique angle. When Claire gets out of the Bentley and gets into the Mini, it is parked the other way round, at an oblique angle.
Murdoch Troon and his driving instructor get into a car which is later shown to be an Austin A40 registration 841 RPF. While they are talking before they set off, the manager of the driving school watches another learner driver in an identical A40 crash into a parked car; she is also driving 841 RPF.
During the car chase a road maintenance man painting a white line down the middle of a road gets bumped from side to side by cars speeding past. The can of paint that he is using moves between the initial wide shot and the close-ups of his feet. Also, the portion of line that he is painting in the close-up shots disappears in the final wide shot of him with the paint can on his head.

Miscellaneous

When Troon is first visited at his home by Claire, his tie is alternatively tight and loosened during that scene.
The same pale blue Ford Classic is visible at least three times during the early part of the driving test scene.
In the last scene the robbers' Jaguar overturns and is about to return to its upright position when the take cuts, but in the final take it is seen lying upside down.
When Murdoch drives up the one-way street, the same white Ford Anglia and blue and white Triumph Herald are twice encountered driving towards him.

Crew or equipment visible

When Troon knocks the spare wheel sending it running down the hill, the wires holding it erect and straight can clearly be seen.

Errors in geography

The film set that was used for the town centre street changes between scenes: in most scenes there is a side road Westgate Grove between the County Bank and the shop called Brenda's which has the distinctive wooden fascia boards above the windows, but in a few scenes such as the one where Troon and the examiner return to the driving test centre, an extra building has been inserted in the place where this side road is. Also, in the background beyond Wells Cycle Co, some scenes show a building whereas other scenes show a fence.
