a must see for Romanian movie fans

I enjoyed this movie a lot. It is a great movie, if you consider that it was done in the '60s. The talented actors make up for some weaknesses of the movie. The fact that they follow the original play is a plus, and makes this movie actually look a bit like a play on the stage, but this adds to its beauty. Very good costumes, great mimics and very well chosen cast. They fit their roles excellent, and the persons they play are very well defined. I think everyone enjoying older movies should see this, especially if you love theater also. It was a lot better than I thought, and the actors act very natural and professional. Watch for the mimics and the voices. And great care for details.

The performances of Silvia Dumitrescu - Timica, Carmen Stanescu,Sanda Toma, Grigore Vasiliu- Birlic, Alexandru Giugaru, George Calboreanu is the basic motif for see this adaptation of Goldoni play. The duel, the costumes, the gestures and the made period are, in same measure, significant ingredients. Sure, it is one of films of my childhood, when, fascinated, I admired the great nuances of acting and the inspired job of Paul Calinescu. After 58 years, it remains admirable film. For atmosphere and for the amazing freshness. And, sure, for the precise message behind the comedy of XVIII century.
