Santa Claus (1959)

Goofs

Santa Claus

Edit

Continuity

The text on the burning newspaper changes from English to Spanish between shots.
Lupita steals the doll twice in the market.
Almost all of the continuity errors listed here are unique to the English-language re-edit by K. Gordon Murray. The entire international music sequence is out of sync in Murray's version, but properly synchronized in the Mexican version. The DVD puts the Spanish or English audio to a Spanish-language print of the film, and Murray's re-edit of this sequence is included in the deleted scenes.
Santa uses an "earscope" - an ear with a spinning radar-like screen behind it - to listen to three children whispering. But minutes earlier, he had used the exact same device as a "dreamscope" to tune in on a child's dream.
When Santa Claus receives the letters from the children of the world there is a mailbox in which he separates the letters from good children and the letters from bad children. The signs that indicate where does he puts this letters change from position in different shots.

Factual errors

When seen through Santa's telescope, the earth is revolving in the wrong direction.

Revealing mistakes

In the scene where Pitch goes down the chimney, the chimney that Pitch goes down moves.

Miscellaneous

The model of the B-36 heavy bomber on the rich boy's bedroom wall has its wings put on backwards.

Audio/visual unsynchronised

The beginning scene has Santa sitting at an organ as children from different nations are shown singing in their own language and the name of the country is shown on Santa's screen. At one point, the English language narrator indicates that the children are from Spain, and the children are in Spanish costumes and are singing in Spanish but, the word on Santa's screen is "Italia" (Italy).

Crew or equipment visible

When Santa Claus starts delivering presents he has to jump of a roof using a umbrella as a parachute, while he gently goes down a rope can be seen lowering him.
