Quantrill's Raiders (1958)

Goofs

Quantrill's Raiders

Edit

Factual errors

In the opening, the lieutenant is wearing crossed rifles on his hat, but cavalry in the Civil War wore the crossed sabers emblem.
There was never a federal arsenal in Lawrence, Kansas although there was a pro-slavery raid in 1856. There was an armory in Liberty, MO which is about 55 miles from Lawrence, KS and it was raided.
The Cherokee never used sign language, like the chief uses in the movie. Many were bilingual, and the tribe had its own written alphabet.

Anachronisms

At several times during the film, characters are seen carrying the Colt Single Action Army Revolver (better known as the "Peacemaker"). This weapon was not manufactured until the 1870s, years after the end of the American Civil War.

Errors in geography

Mountainous terrain film not consistent topography of Kansas and Missouri.
