Monster on the Campus (1958)

Goofs

Monster on the Campus

Edit

Continuity

Towards the end of the movie, the Creature is revealed and begins to damage the cabin, which is well lighted. He breaks out a window and escapes, but the exterior shot doesn't show any evidence of the opening - which should be easily seen given the cabin's lighting. Minutes later, the window is clearly seen intact when police come to the cabin to further investigate.
When the scientist's wife enters the house and discovered the house was a mess, she walks into a darkened room. When she turns the light switch on, there's an overturned lamp with a burning light bulb.
When the beast reverts back to Donald at the end of the movie, his arms are up and his eyes are open throughout the entire transformation scene. However, as the camera pans out, Donald's eyes are closed and his hands are closer to his sides.

Factual errors

Dragonflies do not 'buzz' like houseflies or bees; their wing beats are too slow.

Revealing mistakes

When we see the "anthropoid's" face for the first time, the bottom of the mask is clearly visible.

Crew or equipment visible

In the beginning scene when they are unloading the prehistoric fish from the van, you can see a reflection of the cameraman on the window of the van.
As the Professor injects himself with coelacanth plasma, the camera pushes in slowly on the reel-to-reel tape recorder. The cameraman's shadow can be seen briefly on its front panel.
Very visible wires holding up the prehistoric dragonfly.
Near the beginning when a car and a van are entering the front gate of the school camera lights are clearly reflected off the backs of them.

Character error

At the beginning, the camera passes over a gallery of face 'masks' depicting human evolution. One of these is labeled 'Piltdown man', which by 1958 was well known to be a forgery.
Just before sergeant Daniels encounters the monster, he is talking on a police phone box. He tells the person that he is at call box B-26. However, in very large letters, the box is identified as E-26.
