Saint Joan

Revealing mistakes

When Joan and the King stand by the river rallying the troops, the infantry men come running down the hill to join them. One of them falls on his face.

Anachronisms

At the film's end, the English mention the doctrine of Papal infallibility but this doctrine was not clearly defined until 1869.
Richard De Beauchamp, Earl of Warwick, corrects the French bishop by indicating that a French legal court is a Catholic Court different from an English Protestant Court. Protestantism would be proclaimed by Martin Luther 86 years later.
The choral and later the organ music heard during and after Charles' coronation mimics the style of Handel and Bach's music that was composed during the 18th century.
The word 'cowboy', used in the film appeared in the English language around 1725 rather than the 1300s when the story of this film takes place.
Although the word 'slut' was in use in the 1300s, it meant an untidy man or floor dust.
